Well the morning of day 2 continued with rain (typical) until about 4pm in the day, but I didn't let this stop me viewing the one thing I was most excited to see, the Hachiko Statue! Now if you don't know who Hachiko is, you will hopefully still find the movie on Netflix, no spoilers, but you will need some tissues.
I didn't realise that this statue was right next to shibuya crossing, which in itself is insane, but it's probably more beautiful at night with more people, even still its an experience to use for sure.
To get out of the rain I went to the Owl Cafe, situated in Harajuku, and oh my god how CUTE! Being able to stroke one of these wonderful birds on its own is inspiring, but to have one land on you, and the opportunity to feed them just fills that that little whole in your heart you didn't even know you had.
Then for a quick snack at Takeshita Street before heading to Shinjuku for the 3D cat billboard, the Japanese know how to advertise.
Now this is when the day takes a turn, and I guess it was an experience that not many others will have? I had pre-booked an evening street-kart tour to experience Tokyo in an exciting way. Now for those who don't know what this is, you dress up as a character and drive around Tokyo in a go-kart with a tour guide, just like Mario Kart, except they can't say that because of copyright haha.
Well after about 30 minutes, whilst passing the beautiful Tokyo Tower, a moped ploughed into the back of dad, over his right wheel and took out the wingmirror, dad got hit in his shoulder. We had to wait for 2 hours while the police arrived and did their thorough investigation bit including taking photos and measurements and statements etc. By this point it what should have been a 9pm finish, was more like an 11pm finish. So that was an epic fail! Good job these karts have cameras.
By the time we got back to the hotel it was gone midnight, so a disappointing end and straight to bed.
Tomorrow is Kyoto!
