Over halfway through and for us it was time to relax a bit, so activity wasn't as much as our other days I'm afraid, however how can you not be excited to wake up to an active volcano outside your window! I may or may not have been requesting a minor eruption all day haha.
Kagoshima is a refreshing view away from the hustle and bustle of the city: with a coastal walk, palm trees and watching people fishing, it brought calm back to us for a day, as if we were on a summer holiday, bit weird looking over the water though and seeing smoke coming from the volcano alongside us.
Today is a Bank Holiday for Japan, so families were out too enjoying the day, watching them play at the arcades was just as fun as playing it ourselves. Sadly I didn't win anything. At that point it was time to roam one of the food supermarkets to see the differences between here and the UK, grab a quick meal, and walk back - via 7eleven obviously so that I could get a melon smoothie to assist with the heat :D.
We didn't have to venture far from the Hotel for Dinner either. Across the street is a 'Hotto Motto' which provides take-out bento boxes. I have heard the Japanese refer to it is a Japanese McDonalds but honestly it was far from it, I fully recommend it to anyone who wants some food but doesn't want to sit in at a restaurant, we have some very happy stomachs today!
Although I haven't done anything touristy here today, I'm glad that this district doesn't feel touristy, and as a normal port for locals, today has been a breath of fresh air (minus the volcano smoke).
